Terms of use

1. Who we are
Read95 is a reading app for learning languages, made of the apps for iPhone, iPad and Android and the website read95.com. It is operated by Soulthread Technologies Oy, Myötätuulenmäki 3B 19, 02330 Espoo, Finland (Business ID 3620812-9, D-U-N-S® 369311376).
Readers in Algeria contract with EURL Soulthread Technologies, 13 Lot. Abdelmoumen III, Blida, Algeria (NIF 002609081375045, RC 09/00-0813750B26), which sells Read95 in Algeria. Where these terms say "we", they mean Soulthread Technologies Oy, or EURL Soulthread Technologies for readers in Algeria.
Creating an account, or using Read95 without one, means accepting these terms and the privacy policy (read95.com/privacy).
For any question: contact@read95.com.
2. What Read95 is
- Read95 presents books and articles so that you already know about 95% of the words, and lets you look up the rest.
- The texts are adapted from works in the public domain or used under licence. They are rewritten to your vocabulary by AI services, then checked against the source and for how naturally they read. They remain adaptations: they can depart from the original and can contain errors.
- The explanations of the words you look up are also written by AI services, and can be wrong.
- The works are real literature and journalism. Some contain adult themes and language.
- Read95 helps you read in a language. It is not a course, an exam or a certification, and it does not promise a level by a date.
3. Your account
- Read95 is for people aged 16 and over.
- The account is personal: one person, one account. Give an email address you can receive mail at.
- Keep your password to yourself. What is done from your account is your responsibility.
- You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings (privacy policy, § 8).
4. Plans and prices
Free plan. A number of texts each day, shown in the app, for as long as you like, with no card.
Reader+. A monthly subscription for one language at a time, with more texts each day and the words you look up brought back for review. The price is shown before you pay, in US dollars, euros or Algerian dinars depending on your region, taxes included where they apply.
- Renewal. Reader+ renews every month until you cancel it.
- Trial. Where a free trial is offered, each reader can have one. It turns into a paid subscription at its end unless you cancel before.
- Cancelling. You can cancel at any time by writing to contact@read95.com, or from the subscription settings where the app or the payment page provides them. Reader+ continues until the end of the month already paid, then your account returns to the free plan.
- Price changes. We announce a new price at least 30 days before the renewal it applies to. You can cancel before it takes effect.
- Payment. Card details are entered with our payment provider and never reach us. In Algeria, payment is in dinars, by a bank card accepted in Algeria (CIB, Edahabia), through an approved payment provider.
5. Refunds
- Your first subscription: 14 days. Within 14 days of your first Reader+ payment, write to contact@read95.com and we refund it in full, without asking why. Reader+ then stops and your account returns to the free plan.
- Afterwards. A month already started is not refunded, except where the law requires it or where Read95 did not work as described through our fault.
- Refunds go back to the means of payment used, within 14 days of your request.
These commitments come on top of your rights under the law of the country where you live, never in place of them.
6. Early testers
- Early testers are invited from the sign-up on read95.com, as places open. Signing up does not guarantee an invitation.
- An early tester gets Reader+ free during the test and for three months after the public launch of Read95. After that, the account returns to the free plan unless the tester chooses to subscribe. No card is asked for, so nothing is charged automatically.
- Test versions can contain faults and change without notice.
- We may ask what you think. What you tell us, we may use to improve Read95, without owing anything for it.
- A tester can leave at any time, and we can end a tester's access early if these terms are not respected.
7. What you may not do
- copy, publish or resell the texts and explanations Read95 produces, beyond your own personal study;
- access Read95 by automated means (scraping, bots), or try to get around its daily limits;
- reverse-engineer, disrupt or overload the apps or the servers;
- share your account, or use someone else's;
- use Read95 for anything illegal.
8. Intellectual property
- The apps, the website, their design and the adaptations and explanations Read95 produces belong to Soulthread Technologies Oy or to those who licensed them to us.
- We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Read95 for your own reading and study, for as long as you have an account.
- The original works are in the public domain or used under licence. A work can be withdrawn from Read95 if its licence comes into question.
- Your data remains yours: you can export it at any time.
9. Availability and changes
- We do our best to keep Read95 available and working, without promising that it will never be interrupted.
- Read95 changes: features are added, improved and sometimes withdrawn. A change that takes away something important from Reader+ is announced in advance, and you can cancel.
10. Responsibility
- Read95 is provided with care, as described in these terms. Nothing in them limits your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
- To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect loss, nor for decisions made on the strength of a text or an explanation that turned out to be wrong.
- To the extent the law allows, our responsibility towards you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the event.
11. Suspension
If these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached, or if an account endangers Read95 or its readers, we can suspend or close it. Except in urgent cases, we tell you first and say why. A Reader+ subscription cancelled for this reason ends without a refund for the month under way.
12. App stores
If you downloaded Read95 from the App Store or Google Play, the store's own terms also apply. These terms are between you and us, not Apple or Google, who are not responsible for Read95, its content, its maintenance or any claim about it. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms as third-party beneficiaries.
13. Personal data
How we handle your data is set out in the privacy policy: read95.com/privacy.
14. Changes to these terms
An important change is announced by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account, and cancel Reader+, before then.
These terms exist in English and in Arabic. If the two differ, the English version prevails, except for readers in Algeria, for whom the Arabic version prevails.
15. Law and disputes
Readers outside Algeria. These terms are governed by Finnish law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts there. Before any claim, write to contact@read95.com so that we can try to settle it. Consumers in Finland can also take a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (Kuluttajariitalautakunta).
Readers in Algeria. These terms are governed by Algerian law, in particular Law No. 18-05 of 10 May 2018 on electronic commerce and Law No. 09-03 of 25 February 2009 on consumer protection and the suppression of fraud. Before any claim, write to contact@read95.com so that we can try to settle it amicably. Failing that, the courts of Blida have jurisdiction, without prejudice to the rules protecting consumers.
